Lifeguard

Hours: various shifts available, evenings, weekends and school holidays

Salary: £10 per hour 20yrs and under, £12.21 per hour over 21's, plus holiday pay

This part-time post will cover for periods of pupil and community use. The appointed person will be responsible for the life guarding of the pool for designated sessions. This will include evening and weekend work upon agreement.

The Lifeguard role is a year-round, part-time position, covering both pupil and community use. The appointed person will be responsible for the life guarding of the pool for designated sessions, these will be evenings, weekends and school holidays.

We are looking for someone with good interpersonal and communication skills and an appreciation of Health and Safety practices.

You must be appropriately qualified to lifeguard the pool, supervise groups of varying ages and be aware of pool safety operating procedures.

The Lifeguard will support the Duty Managers in the effective day to day running of the swimming pool.

The person appointed should have - 

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be appropriately qualified to lifeguard the pool and supervise groups of varying ages.
  • Be aware of pool safety operating procedures.
  • Have an appreciation of Health and Safety practices

Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the safety of all pool users when on duty.
  • Respond in an appropriate manner in the event of an incident occurring in the pool.
  • Ensure that the activities in and around the pool are continually monitored.
  • Keep the pool and changing areas clean and tidy.
  • Undertake regular checks of water quality.
  • Ensure swimmers are safely exited from the building in the event of an emergency.
  • Offer advice to members of the public in respect of membership, opening hours and activity sessions.
  • Run children’s swimming parties as required.

Teacher of Horticulture

Rate of pay: Sibford Main Scale. Part time staff are paid pro rata according to the FTE

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and passionate Teacher of Horticulture to plan an interesting and stimulating KS3 schemes of work, which allows students to obtain the best possible results on the City and Guilds course at KS4 and KS5. To make full use of the Horticulture Department and garden to support the school in its aims.

Key Responsibilities

  • To devise a stimulating and engaging scheme of work for the Junior School (as required), Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and 5.
  • To teach the Horticulture course to City and Guilds Level 2
  • With the support of the Head of Food and DT, organise and complete the Horticulture assessment and examinations administration.
  • To plan the use of the garden for teaching purposes and ensure it is adequately maintained.
  • To order materials for the garden as required.
  • To complete an annual budget and to record expenditure.
  • To offer enrichment activities outside of the curriculum.
  • To organise the sale of surplus produce.
  • To attend the annual summer celebration day.
  • To attend appropriate parents evenings and INSET days as required.
  • Any other duties as appropriate to the role, as deemed by the Head.

Key Performance Measures

  • An interesting and stimulating scheme of work at KS3 and KS4, attracting good numbers.
  • School garden area well maintained.
  • Surplus produce suitably managed and sold.

Skills and Competencies required in the role

  • Experience teaching children
  • Relevant Horticultural knowledge
  • Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • City and Guilds Level 2 qualification
