Dr Chris Ward, infectious diseases and microbiology specialist trainee at King’s College Hospital in London, will be visiting Sibford School next week to speak about ‘Emerging Infections’.
Chris will be addressing the school’s termly Café Scientifique which will take place from 6.15pm on Tuesday 15 January. He will be discussing pathogens that have crossed a species barrier into humans and subsequently caused epidemics. Diseases that will come under the spotlight will include Ebola, the Zika virus, Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome and Influenza.
Since qualifying from Cambridge University in 2007, Chris has worked in Peterborough, Cambridge, Oxfordshire (including a four month stint at Banbury) and London.
Sibford School’s Café Scientifique is open to pupils at the school and also members of the general public.
