Sibford School Committee proudly announces the appointment of Rebecca Evans as the 13th Head of Sibford School, marking a significant milestone in the school's 181-year history.
Starting in September, at the start of the next academic year, Rebecca will succeed Toby Spence in leading the school into a new era of educational excellence and become the 13th Head in the schools 181-year history.
Bringing a wealth of experience to her new role, Rebecca has spent the last ten years at St John's School in Leatherhead, a renowned co-educational independent day and boarding school. Demonstrating her commitment and capability, she assumed progressively more significant responsibilities, culminating in her appointment as Acting Head in September last year. A mathematician by background, she went on to gain a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford in teacher education.
Rebecca's passion for Sibford School is evident in her response to the appointment. "I am thrilled to have been chosen as the next head of Sibford at such an exciting time," she shared. During her visit to the school, she discovered a strong alignment between its ethos and her own values. "I am really looking forward to getting to know the pupils, staff, and parents, and to deepening those partnerships of trust and mutual support".
Two compelling factors motivated Rebecca to apply for the position. Firstly, she found great resonance between her core values and the Quaker principles that guide Sibford School - integrity, peace, equality, respect, and a belief in the inherent goodness within everyone. Secondly, Sibford's stunning location in north Oxfordshire holds special significance for Rebecca, as she herself attended Cherwell School in Oxford.
Jonathan Lingham, Clerk of Sibford School Committee, expressed his confidence in Rebecca's abilities and suitability for the position. "From the outset, Rebecca was clearly an outstanding candidate, possessing just the right mix of ability, skills, and experience," he remarked. "Sibford School eagerly awaits the arrival of Rebecca and her husband, Dan, welcoming them into the vibrant school community."
