We are delighted to share the news that Erin, Year 7 has been crowned the junior winner of the Oxfordshire Libraries eBook short story competition 2021.
Erin entered her story titled ‘Marvellous Max and the Choccy Whoccy Woof Bar’ after being inspired by her elderly neighbour's dog. Erin and her family started walking Max on a daily basis during the first lockdown last year and to make the walks go quickly, Erin started to make up stories based on him.
Ian Hunter from Oxford Libraries said ‘It was a unanimous decision at the end of vigorous debate. The Panel was particularly impressed by the originality of the story and we think our junior readers will thoroughly enjoy the story. We loved the characters, especially that of Max himself!
As a result of winning, Erin will get her story published both as an audio book and eBook on the libraries webpages, which can be borrowed and read across Oxfordshire.
Erin's tutor, Andrew Foakes said ‘I can see how much thought and work has gone into completing the narrative for this story - writing is really hard work; well done Erin. It's very good to know that lockdown has had its benefits.’
Huge congratulations to Erin - a published author at age 11 is certainly something to celebrate!
